Well hello...
50 some kilometers into the Camino and I got my first blister. One of the other peregrinos, Rob, was nice enough to drain it with a safety pin. (It was super juicy.. eww) . The sights were BEAUTIFUL today... can´t wait to post pictures. Loooots of uphill. I can´t seem to get my SD camera chip to work right now though : ( There was no internet at yesterdays town, Los Hornillos, but I am currently in Ibero de la vega which is a very cute town with some awesome graffiti murals and cute homeless dogs!
Having the time of my life, missing the friends and fam though.. especially the hub!
More later, for sure!! Naysita

Buenos
Mooorning, it is 530am Monday morning here in Burgos, Espana. That makes it 1130 pm where most of you are. I left Pittsburgh, successfully this time, at 615 Saturday and finally arrived here yesterday around 7. Burgos is a beautiful beautiful city, I am sorry that I do not have time to explore it. I will post a picture of the cathedral where El Cid is buried later though, amazing! Well, the pilgrims are gathering in the lobby here, so Im off to hike my first day! Its a pretty short hike.. about 30 kilometers. More later, miss everyone!

Dia 1: FRACASAR EPICO...
Well, my first day of this Spain adventure turned out to be.. as the students in Apollo-Ridge would say: an "Epic Fail." OR as they would say in my clase de espanol: "fracasar epico".
I made it to the airport, no problema, then waited patiently for my 7:40 flight while perusing Emily Giffin's new book on the kindle. My plan was to fly to Detroit, then to Paris, then to Madrid. Things don't always go as planned though... and just a mere hour after the hub dutifully dropped me off at the airport, I was calling him back to get me! The flight to Detroit had been delayed until 9:10, thus making all of my connecting flights impossible to catch. I have been rescheduled to leave today at 6:15.. direct flight to Paris...so heading to the airport reaal soon. Hope to have some real adventure to blog about soon! Miss you all but sooo excited! Will try to post a pre-trip pic!

Gotta Start Somewhere
Hello all! If you do not know me, my name is Naysa Altmeyer. I am a playful and outgoing person who loves any type of adventure. I have an awesome husband, Joey (aka Jose), who has given up trying to keep me grounded and accepts all of my quirky habits. Well...most of them. He says I am "eccentric"...whatever that means! I am a middle school and high school Spanish teacher--I love my job! When I am not teaching I enjoy running with my dog, Alli Munster, spending time with friends and drawing comics. Finly, The Enlightened Goldfish, is like my alter-ego as he learns life lessons and plays tricks on the household cat, Figaro. Look to see my comics posted in the near future. As summer nears, I am prepping for a 500 mile pilgrimage across northern Spain called "El Camino a Santiago." I leave on May 27th and I plan on blogging my way across the country to keep my friends, family and students posted on the cool things I am doing so be sure to check back soon! Chao :)
